Capital City Berlin

In 1991, the Bundestag decided to make Berlin the federal capital. In 1999, the Bundestag began its work in Berlin.

Even 25 years after the move from Bonn, the expansion of the capital’s functions continues. How was the decision made to spatially integrate political power and national identity into the city and develop design programs? Which historical references were made and which were not? How can the security needs of these institutions be reconciled with the image of a cosmopolitan metropolis?

We will seek answers to these questions together with our guests on a tour along the focal points of the capital’s planning, the Spreebogen and the Spree Island.
